National Fold Competition Results 2019

Back in early July the club had the privilege of hosting Ron Fergie of Knockendon fold, Perthshire to judge our National Fold Competition. Over 2 days, accompanied by James Williamson and Jacky Harrison the trio covered nearly 550 miles, drove for 16 hours and visited 11 folds across Wales!

Those who entered the competition were judged on the quality of their stock, husbandry skills and herd management.

Within his assessments, Ron not only looked for the best large fold and best small fold but also judged a further 5 categories for the competition:

• Best group of calves by the same sire

• Best group of pure highland cows with pure calves

• Best group of pure highland cows with cross calves

• Best group of heifers

• Best stock bull
