ROYAL WELSH SMALLHOLDERS AND GARDEN FESTIVAL: 18/19 MAY 2019

The HCCW had as normal a stand at the show to promote the breed and club and, as we had won the best cattle society stand last year, we were not allowed to enter this year. We therefore tried a different display to see if it made it easier to get information across to the public and this we will fine tune ready for next year. There was a lot of interest in the cattle.

We raised money for the Air ambulance Charity over the weekend by getting the public to guess the weight of the cow on our stand, kindly loaned to us by Guy Mumford. We raised £183.13 over the weekend and had one correct guess from Sarah Eveson. The Cow weighed 587kgs.

I would like to thank everyone that helped on the stand: Becky for embroidering the table cloth with the club name, and all the competitors for turning out and putting on a fine display of cattle competing and especially to Guy for the loan of his cow and calf for the stand.

There were classes for native breeds in the cattle section in which 8 Highlands took part against Dun Galloways, Welsh Blacks, Shorthorns and Red Polls.
